December 12, 2010

Don’t you just love the Holidays? The residents at the Carolina Highlands are definitely enjoying the holidays this year. Every month we have an Ice Cream Social. This month we opted to have hot cocoa instead of ice cream. We had a wonderful afternoon of sitting by the fire, sipping cocoa, and chatting about everything.
We have had the pleasure of seeing many Christmas performances this December. Some of our residents went to see The Singing Christmas Tree at Snyder Memorial Baptist Church while others attended The Christmas of 1776 at Northwood Temple Church. The Carolina Highlands has had the pleasure of having several bands, choirs, and quartettes performing for us at our facility. One of our residents has even put together two performances for us this month, Four Hands, One Piano and The Legend of the Christmas Card.
On the 17th we plan to go around town and see all of the beautiful Christmas lights while singing our favorite Christmas tunes. We also plan on ending the month with a New Year’s Eve bash. The New Year’s Eve Bash will be held in our media room. We will have soda and popcorn while watching the ball drop. It is so much fun to be part of the Carolina Highlands family.

Christmas is definitely in the air! The wind is blowing, the leaves are stirring the lights are glistening and the choirs are signing! Oh what a beautiful month it will be! we waited for this all summer so here it is.
The Carolina Highlands is ready for Christmas. the residents are shopping and not missing a beat. We've taken a trip to the mall, and shopped till we dropped at Barnes and Nobles... sure hope I'm on someones list.... We are celebrating all month long. If you did not get to see a production in Fayetteville for Christmas be sure to come by the Carolina Highlands. There is plenty of festive entertainment here throughout the month of December. I would love to say we are going to loose some weight this month, but it looks to me as if well be stuffed until Christmas.
Baking cookies, exchanging holiday recipes and hot cocoa by the fire is definitely not on the menu for weight loss, but definitely for holiday cheer.
Last month the residents at the Carolina Highlands collected enough food to feed a family of 4 for a week. We exceeded our goal! Thank you to all of my wonderful residents.
Christmas is a wonderful time of year, to Reflect and Re-Joice in the wonderful gifts we have been given, to share and to express our joyful heart to friends and family. Come by the Highlands if you want to experience the joy and stories with a great group of friends. Our new residents blend right in and our old friends keep coming back for more. Merry Christmas, and Happy Holidays to everyone to and from the Carolina Highlands. Dont forget about our wonderful Christmas extraveganza! Celebrate with us at our anual christmas party. Thursday December 9th. Dancing, signing, cocktails, horsdouvres and more... RSVP to Kelly at 484- 6430. Cant wait to see you all at the Carolina Highlands.

November has really been a great month for the Carolina Highlands. On Tuesday, November 2nd, our residents enjoyed some Christmas shopping at Cross Creek Mall. Our Ladies (and a few of our gentlemen) love to shop!
We had many birthdays this month at the Carolina Highlands, but one birthday really stuck out. One of our residents, Ms. Berline Gallehugh, turned 95 years old! Ms. Gallhugh’s daughter had a special birthday bash just for her! All the residents in attendance had a superb time. We learned all kinds of interesting facts about Ms. Gallehugh, while enjoying a wonderful dinner with some great friends.
Tomorrow, November 15th, we plan to take a trip to Southern Supreme. For those of you who may not be familiar with Southern Supreme, it is a fruit cake factory in Bear Creek. We have heard so much about this fruit cake factory that we can barely wait to see what all the commotion is about.
Have you heard all the talk about us? Have you seen our shopping cart? Aren’t you curious why we have this shopping cart full of goodies? The holidays bring out the best in people, especially our residents. This Thanksgiving the Carolina Highlands will be feeding a family for a week! How can we feed a family for an entire week, you ask? Our generous residents have been donating nonperishable food items. We have been displaying our resident’s generosity by keeping all of their donations in a shopping cart. Can you think of a better way to end the month of November than giving to those who really need it?
We are looking forward to a Thanksgiving service, our first ever checkers tournament, and decorating for the holidays.

This month's special entree night here at the Carolina Highlands was a huge sucess. We had a great crowd! We sang, we danced, we laughed. It was absolutely delightful. We finished out the month with our monthly pancake breakfast, birthday luncheon, and a dinner potluck. Can you tell we like to find a reason to get together and eat? Our dinner potluck was a huge success. Our wonderful residents brought some of the best food you could imagine. We will be starting November off right with our Living Well Series, another shopping trip, and an ice cream social.
At the Carolina Highlands we believe in embrassing our neighbors as our family, that's why we are sponsoring a food drive to help feed a family for a week. You can find our shopping carts at the Carolina Highlands and Harris Teeter. Please help us give to those less fortunate by donating nonperishable food items. Thanksgiving is such a happy time for us. We want to make sure we can share our joy with at least one other family.
Until next time, have a great day!

October 16 2010

The past couple of weeks have been very busy here at the Carolina Highlands. This month we were delighted to be part of Fayetteville’s annual Parade of Homes. The Parade of Homes lasted for two week-ends in October. Over the course of those two week-ends we met several wonderful new faces and hopefully a few future residents! Our president, Mr. Jared Fryer, and several of our residents were a huge help in greeting visitors and taking them on tours. We can’t say thanks enough.
After the rush of the Parade of Homes we decided to unwind with a little retail therapy at the outlets in Smithfield, N.C. We went on a Wednesday so the stores were not very crowded and the weather outside was perfect for shopping! We found some great deals and even picked up a few Christmas gifts.
We are looking forward to an overnight trip to beautiful Charleston, S.C. and, like always, our Special Entrée Night. This month our Special Entrée Night theme will be the Oktoberfest featuring a special appearance by the Memory Lane Band. The Special Entrée Night will not be the end of our activities for this month though. We are also looking forward to birthday luncheon, making Christmas ornaments for our crafty crafts, and our dinner potluck!
We hope everyone has a wonderful month, just as we plan to do! Please be sure to check us out at www.CarolinaHighlandatVG.com

September has turned out to be a wonderful month here at The Carolina Highlands. We have really enjoyed all the Greek culture we have been introduced to this month. We enjoyed visiting Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church for the annual Greek Festival. The food and festivities were simply splendid. Our residents can not quit talking about the wonderful dancing that was seen at the Greek Festival. We enjoyed it so much that for our special entrée night our theme was a night in the Greek isles. Some of the dancers from the church even came out to dance for us that night. We cannot decide what we liked the best; the dancing, the music, or the delicious food!
This month we are also pleased to say that we held a musical tribute for Mr. Otis Lambert. This was wonderful musical was put together by our very own Mrs. Betty Howie and her wonderful team of musicians. Mrs. Howie played the piano and another one of our residents, Mr. Bill Wright, sang alongside of others from the community. It was a very special night for a very special man.
We are really looking forward to the next couple of weeks and the fast approaching holidays. Next week we will be visiting Cypress Bend Vineyard in Wagram, North Carolina. Our sign up sheet for residents going on this trip is continuously growing. With a crowd like ours, we are guaranteed to have a great time. Since we are scheduled to go only one day before the beginning of autumn, we are hoping to have beautiful, breezy, fall weather. Later in the week, we plan to welcome fall with the new wreaths we will be making on our crafty crafts day. We plan to end September with our monthly Birthday Lunch of spaghetti and meatballs. We can hardly wait!

From Your Real Estate Lady

As I write this, we are getting ready for the New Year! I have now been at the Carolina Highlands for a year as your “Real Estate Lady”. And boy, has it been an adventure! I have met some wonderful and fascinating people this year. And most of them have been residents of the Carolina Highlands. We have had so many fun events here this past year and so many parties! Who can forget the “wedding” of Romeo and Juliet? The Spring Party – The Cruise Party – The Christmas Program and The Christmas Party!! No one can say that we don’t know how to have a great time or throw a fun party. Ms. Sessoms out danced us all at the Christmas party! I know I had a hard time keeping up with her on the dance floor. And, it was hard to keep Mr. Casto from joining us in the middle of the dance floor. Of course, it is easy for everyone here to party and have fun since you are only an elevator ride away from home.
We are working hard to get the word out about all the amenities that are offered at The Carolina Highlands, our marvelous residents and fantastic staff. We want to encourage all of you to host any of your clubs, meetings, or a get together of your friends and family in our beautifully decorated gathering room or our gracious dining room. I am looking forward to starting my second year as your “Real Estate Lady”. I truly appreciate everyone who lives here and is a “non paid” assistant to me. Thank you so much for all of your help and encouragement the past year. I want to wish all of you a HAPPY NEW YEAR and I can’t wait to see what we accomplish together in 2010!!
